dam hespeler river race

The Dam Hespeler race loops up and down from the Jacob's Landing side of the Hespeler Mill Pond upstream to the historic Black Bridge. The course features the natural and beautiful Speed River with twisting river sections with swifts, currents, shallows and buoy turns.  There are no portages and no whitewater.  Various classes will paddle a single 5km loop or multiple loops to make up the 10K, 15K and 20K races making the race is suitable for beginners as well as for experienced paddlers looking for distance and water current reading challenges.

The purpose of the race is to promote water safety, the sport of flat water paddling and engage the community in the recreational use of the Hespeler Mill Pond and Speed River. The race is sanctioned through OMCKRA with insurance provided through Canoe Kayak Ontario. Organizers and participants must adhere to the OMCKRA safety policy and wear a PFD.

Onsite registration and sign-in from 8:30 – 9:45 AM. First race starts at 10:30 AM. At Jacob's Landing near 54 Guelph Avenue at Milling Street.
